Fundraiser for family of La’Mello Parker

A fundraiser will be held for the family of La’Mello Parker, the three-month-old baby who was shot and killed back in May during a shootout between police and the infant’s father.

La’Mello Parker’s family lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and has been impacted by Hurricane Ida. Several organizations decided to come together to host a ‘free throw for La’Mello’ event to raise money and help ease the burden on the family.

For just $5 you can shoot two free throws to help go toward the fundraiser. Yo Gulf Coast Founder John Kemp said, “The auntie of La’Mello has taken in the siblings of La’Mello and so the family is struggling to come up with essential needs for everyday living. So, we are wanting to raise money for that and so far, before we have shot one-free throw, we have already gotten $1,003. We are going to be sending this over to them immediately even before the event so they can take care of needs to take care of the hurricane post efforts.”

The fundraiser will take place Saturday at the Kroc Center in Biloxi from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
