Funding for Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park

Better late than never and after 30 years, Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park will finally see a makeover.
Governor Phil Bryant steered over four million dollars in BP funds in order to get construction rolling at the park. New additions include a bait shop, kayak launch, an open-air interpretive center, and nature trails through a botanical garden.
The city constructed a waterfront boardwalk, lighting and an upgraded boat ramp, but work stopped short of the final phase due to lack of funding.
Now, construction can start up again for nature lovers to enjoy. Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “What our goal here is to make it something that is engaging for the public where they can enjoy the beauty of the site. There are some beautiful sunsets out there. The other thing that makes this project important is that Governor Bryant steered $4.2 million in BP funds towards the project. Had that not happened we would have had to continue to piecemeal it.”
The expected finish date for the project is March of next year.
