Friends & Family Mourn Loss of Amanda & Jimmy Ward

Teachers and students came together as one to mourn the loss of Jimmy and Amanda Ward. A mother whose daughter played basketball with Amanda says the D’Iberville girls’ basketball team had a trip planned to cheer on Bay High in the state tournament, but cancelled that trip Friday after hearing the news. They could not go knowing Amanda would not be with them.

Harrison County Superintendent, Henry Arledge, says the school district will do everything to stand behind D’Iberville High. He says, “As soon as we heard it, we started sending counselors to the school, teacher assistants from other schools to fill in for the teachers. It affects both the students as well as the staff.”

There has been no word on whether a vigil will be scheduled in the students’ honor.
