Free tax filing services offered through VITA program

The Jackson County Civic Action Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is open and ready to do your taxes.

The VITA program offers free tax preparation services for individuals and families who make up to $56,000 per year.

The service includes electronic filing and all of the volunteers are IRS trained and certified.

VITA has offices in Harrison, Jackson and George counties to provide free tax assistance for anyone within those counties or even the surrounding areas.

What do you need to bring?

• Valid Picture I.D.
• Social Security card(s) for you, your spouse, children, and any
others shown on the tax return
• A copy of your 2018 tax return is helpful but not required
• Copies of ALL W-2’s, 1098s, 1099s, Social Security statement,
and the amount of other income received by you, and your
spouse if applicable
• Form 8332 for non-custodial parent claiming child
• Child/Dependent Care Tax statement, if applicable
Student loan interest/college tuition expenses paid
• For direct deposit, bring Checking and/or Savings account
number and routing transit number – a copy of a voided check
• Additional documentation to claim possible tax credits, such as
the first-time home buyer credit
