Free back to school supplies
Keesler military families are stocking up on some free school supplies today thanks to Operation Homefront.
The back to school brigade distributed nearly 500 backpacks and school supplies to pre-registered military children. In each backpack were coupons and gift certificates to Big Play Entertainment and Margaritaville and some were rewarded with a free years’ worth of food at Whataburger.
Parents and children tell News 25 they’re happy with the supplies they picked out and now feel stress free! Sixth grader Bianca Gray said, “I picked scissors, loose-leaf paper and stuff. I got my binder and stuff.”
Parent Summer Tierno said, “It really helps me out because I can focus on other things instead of having to worry about getting this at the last minute and I can have a little bit on reserve so when they need it in the middle of the night, I know that I have it.”
This year, Operation Homefront was able to serve over 120 families with free school supplies.
