Free admission into two museums along the Coast

The entire month of August is ‘Art Museum Month’ in Mississippi. Seven of the state’s art institutions will offer free admission this month as part of a statewide collaborative effort to welcome visitors back to art museums and sculpture gardens.

Two out of the seven museums will be free right here along the Coast. Those are the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art and Walter Anderson Museum of Art.

Through the Art Museum Month Mississippi campaign, both in-state and out-of-state visitors can experience the art of travel by gaining free admission to participating museums. Walter Anderson Museum of Art Executive Director Julian Rankin said, “It’s really also a way for the museums to thank the communities who have stood by us during a difficult, tumultuous year and free admission is a way to get people out and moving about a little bit and reconnect with the culture that makes Mississippi so unique.”

Many of the state’s art museums and sculpture gardens offer interactive exhibits and experiences for visitors to foster a greater understanding of art and artist’s perspectives.
