Frappuccino with Fire networking event in Ocean Springs

A new event in Ocean Springs brought people together with the city’s fire chief. It was called Frappuccino with Fire.

People were able to hear from Ocean Springs Fire Chief Derek McCoy this morning while enjoying a complimentary breakfast at Coffee Fusion.

The event was organized by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce Main Street Tourism Bureau along with its sponsor the Birdhouse.

It was a great opportunity for business owners to learn more about what’s happening at the city’s fire department.

One big accomplishment Chief McCoy touched on was the first graduating class of 1001 basic firefighter academy, the first one in Jackson County. “Anytime we can interact with our community members and just talk about what we are doing and kind of spread information about everything we got going on it’s a great thing and I am glad to be a part of it.”

The fire department also is in the process of starting an explorer program that will recruit high school students.
