Four more beaches closed in South Mississippi
This morning, four more stretches of beach in South Mississippi have been closed.
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality through its beach monitoring program has added four locations of water contact warnings on the Coast.
Those beaches include:
- Davis Ave. to Donlin Ave.-Pass Christian
- Arbor Station Dr. to Lang Ave.- Long Beach
- Mason Ave. to South Burk Ave.-Long Beach
- Lewis Ave. to Hardy Ave.-Gulfport
Those beach advisories are in addition to the 21 water contact advisory warnings already in effect in South Mississippi, topping off the list for a total of 25 beach closures now.
The reason, according to MDEQ, is due to the blue green algae in the water.
