Foster parents needed in Mississippi
Foster parents are in high demand in the magnolia state.
Here on the coast, 150 foster homes are needed to meet the current need.
A local faith based nonprofit works to expedite the process it takes in order to become a foster parent so that the desperate need on the coast can be met.
Rescue 100 has teamed up with Child Protective Services and the Commission on Children’s Justice to provide weekend training in May so that children in need can be placed into loving homes faster.
Reverend Tony Karnes with Rescue 100 said “Through this collaboration, we’ve been able to shorten the training to become a foster parent and condense it down into one intensive weekend. Once that weekend it done, you just need to go through a couple subsequent home studies and you will be licensed. So you will reduce it by at least half.”
If you’re interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent, there is an information session tonight at the Harrison County Youth Court in Biloxi at 6.
