Fort Bayou Drawbridge will reopen

Today, MDOT told WXXV the Fort Bayou Drawbridge will reopen soon.

MDOT announced the bridge will reopen two weeks from today on Friday, May 21^st.

Work on the bridge is moving forward as crews work to repair and reopen the bridge.

MDOT closed the drawbridge on March 14^th for a repair project. This project was awarded to C.E.C. Inc of Lafayette, Louisiana.

The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic May 21^st and the entire project is expected to be completed late 2021.
