Forrest Avenue Pier in Biloxi reopens Friday

The Forrest Avenue Pier on the Back Bay of Biloxi will be back open tomorrow.

The pier was never destroyed by a storm, but received some damage over the years from flooding and everyday use.

The city decided to completely scrap everything beside the concrete pilings. It’s not completely finished yet; a cutting table and benches will be added in the next couple weeks.

It took about two months to complete the project and now people can get back to enjoying the pier. Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Cecilia Dobbs-Walton said, “A lot of people use these piers. This pier has actually been used, like I said, for decades being in this location. Just, over the years, this just needed a little bit of updating. But it’s a very popular pier for people who live in this area and being out here… when you come out here you just see the beauty of the Gulf Coast. It’s a nice place for people and visitors to enjoy, people fish off this pier often, and starting this weekend they’ll be able to enjoy it again.”

The Porter Avenue North Pier is still closed for renovation.
