Former William Carey president dies at 82

William Carey University’s President Emeritus Dr. Tommy King has passed away today.

Dr. King was 82 and died at Forrest General surrounded by family.

He guided William Carey University for more than 15 years, overseeing growth in student enrollment and expansions in programming and infrastructure.

Under Dr. King’s leadership, a new campus was established in Biloxi after Hurricane Katrina and the Hattiesburg campus grew to become 170 acres.
