Former USM Head Coach Jay Hopson named South Alabama cornerbacks coach

Today, South Alabama Head Football Coach Kane Wommack announced Jay Hopson as the next cornerbacks coach of the Jaguars.

Hopson most recently serving as the director of high school relations at Mississippi State following his departure as the head coach at Southern Miss just one game into the 2020 season.

During his time in Hattiesburg, Hopson led the Golden Eagles to four straight winning seasons including three bowl games and a New Orleans Bowl win in 2016, good for a combined overall record of 28-23.

Prior to USM, Hopson experiencing similar success as the head man at Alcorn State, winning back-to-back SWAC championships in 2014-15 with a four-year mark of 32-17.
