Former Shuckers capture N.L. Pennant, set to compete for World Series

BILOXI, MS – On Thursday night, the Milwaukee Brewers captured the first National League pennant in franchise history, booking a trip to the World Series for the first time since 1982.

Former Biloxi Shucker Jackson Chourio (’22-’23) recorded the final out after a ninth-inning home run from former Shucker David Hamilton (’21).

12 of the 26 players on the Brewers National League Championship Series roster made at least one appearance with the Shuckers, including Cooper Pratt and Luis Lara, who played with the Shuckers in 2025.

Standout reliever Aaron Ashby appeared with the Shuckers on a rehab assignment in 2023, while big moments came from Jackson Chourio (’22-’23), David Hamilton (’21) and Garrett Mitchell (’21-’22).

The group joins Orlando Arcia (’21 – Atlanta Braves) as the only players to reach the World Series in Shuckers franchise history.

The World Series begins on Friday, October 23, at American Family Field. The Brewers will take on either the Tampa Bay Rays OR the Cleveland Guardians.

Both Tampa Bay and Cleveland include former Shuckers on their ALCS rosters, including Drew Rasmussen (’19) and David Fry (’21).

A former Shucker is guaranteed to win a World Series for just the second time in franchise history. A complete list of former Shuckers to win the 2026 National League Pennant is below;
