Former Picayune high school baseball star set to compete in the NCAA Tournament

The NCAA baseball tournament is set to start on Friday. One of, if not the best, parts about these national tournaments is the spotlight it puts on student-athletes.

Nicholls baseball hit the road bright and early on Wednesday as they are set to play in the Oregon State regional this Friday. Two of the many players on their team bus have a special connection to the coast. Cade Crosby and Kade Turnage are both from the Mississippi Coast!

Crosby is a Gulfport high school alum and senior infielder for Nicholls. Turnage is a catcher for the Colonels, but before he was suiting up in Nicholls gear he was the pride of Picayune and the Maroon Tide. Before they hit the road, Turnage spoke about the opportunity he has to play in the biggest stage of college baseball.

“I’m honestly, personally, ready to see that part of the country,” he said. “I’m looking forward to traveling and seeing that part of the country but we are not going for vacation we are going to win. You can feel it in the locker room – the vibes we have got going on in there. It’s business and we know what is at stake and what we got to do.”
