Former Ocean Springs LHP foregoes MILB contract with Brewers

Under recruited leading up to his senior season at Ocean Springs, Garrett Crochet made up for lost time in 2017.
Last month, the lefty ace of the Greyhounds was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 34th round of the MLB first year player draft. All of a sudden, the former JCJC signee had options and a big decision to make this summer.
This morning, Crochet made that decision foregoing a minor league contract with his commitment to the University of Tennessee via Twitter.
His second choice was the other UT, University of Texas, which is actually where he was on a visit when he got drafted.
Earlier in June, Crochet received his first division I offer from Tulane and Jones County Junior College was still on the table as well.
Having the chance to go pro was certainly a dream come true, but he volunteered to make education his first priority.
