Former MS officer DUI results in death in Florida

One of five children hit by a suspected drunk driver in Polk County, Florida yesterday has died from his injuries.
Investigators say former Mississippi law enforcement officer John Camfield hit the five children Thursday afternoon after they got off their school bus. He then drove away and crashed into a stopped car, injuring a pregnant woman. Three of the children were treated for injuries at the scene and another remains in a hospital.
Police officials describe Camfield as an embarrassment and an alcoholic, saying he registered nearly double the alcohol limit seven hours after the crash. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, “Professional law enforcement officers don’t get in the car and act like that, but this is a guy who was an alcoholic, who bragged about loving Captain Morgan and his rum. He’s a total embarrassment.”
Camfield has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, three counts of driving under the influence with injury and property damage and reckless driving.
