Former MLB Player Dale Murphy Visits Biloxi

They say the show must go on, especially when former Major League Baseball outfielder Dale Murphy is hitting Biloxi.
The former Atlanta Brave was today’s speaker at the “Our Love Affair with Baseball” luncheon which was held at the Saenger Theater in Biloxi. A fire caused minor damage to the luncheon’s usual spot at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art.
Seats were full in the theater as Murphy talked about his 18 years with Major League Baseball, the ups and downs and a time when he almost quit.
Murphy tells News 25 he’s glad he hung in there, being named the MVP for the National League twice. He says it’s a breath of fresh air to return to the South to speak in Biloxi today. “This is, of course, Braves Country. A lot of people follow the Braves here and played most of my career in Atlanta. We just have a great connection. I feel like I grew up in the South. I’m originally from Portland, Oregon, but a lot of my younger years were here.”
Murphy also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Colorado Rockies. Murphy won the National Golden Glove Award five years in a row.
The “Our Love Affair with Baseball” luncheon will return to the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum next week.
