Former Long Beach Standout Signs with USM after One Season at JCJC

In the coaching carousel that is college football, sometimes a strong relationship between player and coach can come full circle.
At least that’s the case for Long Beach alum Trevor Terry who signed with Southern Miss yesterday after playing one year at Jones County Junior College. When Terry was coming out of high school, Coach Hopson was recruiting him to Alcorn State.
Now at USM, Hopson was able to give Terry the break he’d been looking for this whole time: a chance to play for the Black and Gold. “I just felt like, even out of high school, I just felt like that would always be my home and that is always where I wanted to play. It’s pretty close to home for me, so I just wanted to stay close and it just feels like home and that’s where I wanted to go. JUCO, it’s like a struggle to get out of JUCO, everybody knows that. We go through a lot because we all have our own stories and everything and we all have our own backgrounds and we’ve all just got to go through a lot to get to the next level. So me being here with my teammates and my family and everything, it’s a really big deal,” said Terry.
Terry also had scholarship offers from Tulane and James Madison.
