Former Giants Players Speaks at Ohr-O’Keefe Museum
We all have to start from somewhere. A former Major League Baseball player says his start was right here on the Coast.
Jim Howarth, who played for the San Francisco Giants, was today’s guest speaker for the “Our Love Affair with Baseball” luncheon in Biloxi.
Howarth shared stories about the days when he played in the Major Leagues with the crowd at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art.
The luncheon happens every Friday and it’s open to anyone who is hungry for baseball.
Howarth tells News 25 just being in the game was his favorite part of his time in Major League Baseball. “I mean, being a kid from Biloxi, Mississippi and getting a chance to travel across the country playing ball and especially to play before the biggest crowds in baseball amongst the greatest players that ever played the game. I played against over 30 Hall of Famers. It was exciting being up there and just playing with some of these great players.”
WXXV is a proud sponsor of the luncheon.
Next Friday former Biloxi Dodgers Negro League pitcher Dick “Lefty” O’Neal will be the guest. In two weeks, Darryl Strawberry will be there.
