Former George County standout now with Birmingham Barons

When given the choice between staying at Southern Miss for his senior season and signing a professional contract with the Chicago White Sox in 2014, Mason Robbins decided on the latter.
So far, so good for the George County alum who’s now playing for the Birmingham Barons. This week, they made their first trip of the season down to Biloxi for a five game series versus the Shuckers.
Now in his fourth season with the White Sox organization, Robbins continues to climb the ranks of their farm system, having advanced in classification each year. That’s steady progress for the former Golden Eagle and Rebel who says he’s still in it for the long haul. “Yeah, it’s been my goal since I was little. It was just something that was going to happen. I didn’t go out of high school and went to Southern Miss, had a good three years there and then I felt like it was, I sat down with my parents and felt like it was a good time to go play professional ball and the ball has been rolling ever since. I want to play until either they tell me I can’t or the stats aren’t there anymore, so that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Robbins has spent the duration of his time in the minor leagues with Chicago as a 25th round draft pick of the White Sox in 2014.
