Former George County high school pitcher announced as Opening Day starter for the Chicago Cubs
Former George County star Justin Steele was recently announced as the Opening Day starter for the Chicago Cubs.
The Cubs announced on Saturday that the Lucedale native and George County high school alum will be their Opening Day starter against the lates World Series champions – the Texas Rangers, on March 28th.
This will be Steele’s first career Opening Day start.
Steele has a career record of 24-16 with an ERA of 3.30.
in 2023, the former rebel was an impressive 16-5 and also lowered his ERA to 3.06.
