Former Biloxi Shucker makes MLB history with new contract
On Sunday, former Biloxi Shucker centerfielder Jackson Chourio broke an MLB record…and the bank.
The star centerfielder is only 19-years-old and just signed an 8-year, $82-million contract that shatters the previous record for a player with no big league experience. Chourio’s contract is the fourth largest in Milwaukee Brewers history.
He was the youngest player to appear in Double A with the Shuckers in 2023. That is where he spent most of last season. While there he batter .280 with 22 homeruns. Chourio is expected to be on the opening day roster for the 2024 season.
