Former Biloxi Shucker Corbin Burnes wins MLB ERA title

In 2019, former Biloxi Shucker Corbin Burnes couldn’t keep the ball in the yard and his 8.82 ERA was proof of that.

Crazy how much can change in just a couple of short years.

Burnes wraps up his 2021 season as the first Milwaukee Brewers pitcher to ever win the Major League ERA title.

He posted a clip of 2.43 to go along with 234 strikeouts across 167 innings, beating out Dodgers teammates Max Scherzer and Walker Buehler as well as his own running mate Brandon Woodruff, another former Shucker.

Burnes also led the league in strikeout rate, strikeouts to walks, FIP, and percentage of barrels, not to mention he’s less than a month removed from his part in Milwaukee’s first no-hitter since 1987.
