Footloose the Musical coming to the Beau Rivage

The smash hit Broadway show Footloose the Musical is coming to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Get ready to kick off the Sunday shoes, because Footloose the Musical is coming to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The cast and crew arrived on the coast not too long ago, but they have been hard at work getting prepared for opening night.

“We got here about a week ago, maybe a little over, ever since then it’s been 10-6 everyday rehearsing non-stop. It’s so fun because there’s so much to do in the show, there’s so much dancing and singing but it’s been quick.,” said Ren McCormack actor Hank Santos,

“It’s been an amazing process, we started with a lot of dancing, and doing that with our choreographer. We’ve now started doing the scenes, doing more music rehearsals so it’s been really fast paced but amazing,” said Ariel Moore actress Lindsay Jordyn.

The cast of 22 actors come from all over and have loads of performance experience.

“Really it’s just trying to get a full Broadway show ready to open here at the Beau ready to open in 2 weeks. Mainly the cast is from New York City, they all train in and around Broadway, and we’ve brought a cast of 22 here to the Gulf Coast to be part of the show,” said show director and executive producer Jeb Rand.

“I just got off my 3rd – would have been my 4th national tour, but COVID – so I’ve been traveling non-stop for like 2 years. This is a bigger house than you get in a lot of touring venues. So, it’s such a great opportunity to see how many people can actually come out and what a giant crowd you get to entertain,” said Santos. “Cause there’s nights on tour where it might be a 200-seat house, it might be a 1000 seat house, but this is over 1500. This is a really big venue and what a great opportunity for people who have worked or for people who this might be their first time in a big setting and of course we get treated so well so you can’t really beat it.”

Local Mississippi performer Donte Nagle will be leading the live band during the shows, which will include the original songs from the movie.

“Kenny Loggins music, the original stuff, all these numbers – “Footloose”, “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”, “Holding Out for a Hero” are all a part of the show, but the Broadway writers incorporated some new songs to really bring the audience into the action. It’s a lot of fun, very interactive with the audience people will be standing up dancing in their seats,” said Rand. “I love the movie, I’m old enough to remember the original movie, the remake was great, but you never have the same feeling as when you have a live audience. Having 1500 people here at the Beau Rivage, the energy you get from them. As a former performer myself, there’s nothing like a live performance, especially here at the wonderful Beau Rivage.”
