Food plate benefit to raise money for gunshot victim in Gulfport

The family of Dwayne Parker, the man who was caught in the crossfire of a shooting on East Railroad Street in Gulfport last month, is raising money for his medical expenses.

Parker was shot after a local woman, who was the target of the attack, had argued with her boyfriend. Parker was hit three times and was airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans.

The Gulfport man was discharged from the hospital a little over a week ago and now has a long road of recovery ahead. Parker said, “I just want to thank my family for what they’ve done. I want to thank everyone in the neighborhood who came by to contribute and purchase a plate, or just stopped by to say good to see you, glad you are home. I just want to thank everybody — I’ve heard everybody who’s said they’ve been praying for me. I appreciate that. I’m just glad that the community supports me.”
