Food drive being held tomorrow
Local leaders, organizations, and churches are coming together this weekend to combat food hunger in South Mississippi.
Tomorrow at Jack and Florence Goldin Park in Gulfport, Ward 6 Councilman Robert Lee Flowers, Mississippi Power, Morning Star Baptist Church, and more are collaborating to a community food drop.
Thanks to Feeding the Gulf Coast of South Mississippi, over 30,000 pounds of food will be available to those in need.
Fresh produce, meats, dry goods, and more will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
Director of operations, Cindy Blood of Feeding the Gulf Coast, says food drives like this are not possible without partnerships.
“We work hard every day luckily we have a great team here at Feeding the Gulf Coast along with over 800 partners, food distribution partners across the Gulf Coast that help us make it happen and countless donors we cant do anything if we don’t have the food or the funding to support the work that we do,” said Bloom.
