Florida native calls upon Mississippi Gulf Coast

Storm damage has already crippled multiple major cities in the United States during this year’s hurricane season, but the tropics are showing no sign of slowing down.
Residents of Florida are already scrambling to deal with the monumental damage done by Hurricane Irma, but resources are limited. A woman living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is asking others to assist her supply drive as she hopes to be able to assist those in her home state of Florida, but she’s worried her trip could be delayed as another strong hurricane is already developing on a path headed straight toward Puerto Rico and possibly the United States mainland.
Florida native Amanda Isert said, “It’s kind of an ‘are you kidding me?’ and a lot of people are saying well, I’m not evacuating. After it’s been so hard to get back in and a lot of people understand why. I’m actually from Marathon, Florida. A lot of my friends and family are still there. There’s such a great need. I can’t sit here and not do anything.”
Some of the biggest needs in Florida right now are building supplies, tents, and anything that could help with providing shelter for those affected by these storms.
