Flooding Update
Last week, river flooding spread throughout areas of the Gulf Coast including RiverRoad in Gulfport. On Friday, residents could not see where the Biloxi River ended and the roadway began, but this morning it was the complete opposite.
This weekend’s rain did not affect the flood levels as predicted, but officials tell News 25 only time will tell with the expected rain coming today and tomorrow. Harrison County Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy said, “It’ll fluctuate a little bit higher, go down, a little bit higher, go down. Hopefully we won’t see heavy rain today that maybe, it’ll get back into its banks tomorrow and we’ll get it back down to its normal runs, six, seven feet, even lower than that and the residents can clean up along the river areas.”
The flood stage for the Biloxi River was recorded this morning at 12.8 feet.
