Flood Ordinance Meeting
This afternoon, the Bay St. Louis city council will hold a meeting in hopes of making sure residents don’t lose flood insurance.
During a meeting earlier this week, mayor les Fillingame gave the council a letter from the Mississippi emergency management agency.
According to the letter, if the city does not adopt a compliant floodplain ordinance by May 8th , they could face serious enforcement actions.
One of those enforcement actions would be the suspension of the national flood insurance program.
The city’s non-compliance has to do with filler dirt being used when building…this is something not allowed through FEMA.
That meeting is set for this afternoon at 3:30.
