Flames light up the night at Island View for flame-throwing competition

Cruisin’ The Coast got heated up Tuesday at Island View Casino at the annual flame-throwing competition.

Spectators crammed into the casino’s four-story parking garage to get a glimpse of the cars and trucks while contestants starting firing up their hot rods.

As soon as the sun set, the specially-modified rides made sparks fly by burning excess fuel through the exhaust. Some cars wowed the crowd with columns of flame, while others struggled to ignite.

The winner walked home with a trophy and a $1,000 cash prize.
