Five George County Rebels sign to continue their baseball careers at the next level

It was a big day for a lot of our coast athletes and a huge day for George County! The George County high school cafeteria was filled with pride and applause as five members of the reigning 6A baseball State Championship team signed to further their academic and athletic careers!

Right-handed pitcher Preston McAdory will continue his career at Pearl River Community College, pitcher and third baseman Canyon Reeves will suit up with the Bobcats at Jones College, and three athletes will call each other teammates for two more years at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The future Bulldogs are Ben Davis, Blane Green, and Tripp Lightsey.

here’s what the signees had to say moments after becoming official

“It feels great,” Reeves said. “My family went there, both of my older cousins went there so it kind of propels me there also. It has always felt like home. It feels great and feels like I go from one winning program to another winning program. It just gets me pumped up.”

It’s cool because we get to play longer and most people don’t get to play as long as other people, so maybe I can play for two more years and you never know what could happen after that,” said Davis.

“It really means a lot because I get to develop at such a good school and go places I want to be,” said McAdory. “If I can develop enough there I’ll be able to go places I want to be.”

“It means the world to me, me and the boys we’re ready to go to Perk and have a great time, and I can come back and go hunting anytime I want,” said Lightsey. “I’ll be close to home and close to the family and still play baseball.”

“It’s just a dream come true,” Green said. “It’s something you look forward to your whole life and it’s finally the time, but we’re worried about that next state championship. Signing day is just a day, but we’re going to get after it.”

Congratulations to these five George County Rebels, and we look forward to seeing you all on the baseball diamond soon!
