Fishing with Buddies happening October 3rd
On October third the port right here at Shaggy’s Pass Harbor in Pass Christian will be filled with smiling faces and hopefully some big catches.
Fishing with Buddies, an event open to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other special needs.
Participants will experience a day in the life of a Gulf Coast fisherman as they will load the boat, head out on the water, hopefully make a big catch, and at the end they return to Shaggys to celebrate their day out at sea.
This is one of many events hosted by Mississippi Gulf Coast Buddy Sports inc. a charity that provides sports and leisure opportunities for individuals with special needs.
The charity started in 2010 with 30 members and has since then grown to 250 members and has been officially recognized as a public charity.
In that past they’ve hosted baseball and horseback riding events but they’re hoping the year’s edition of fishing with buddy’s continues to be a success.
“You’re gonna leave here feeling better than whenever you show up. It’s such a blessing to see the excitement. I can’t believe how much fun they have just simply being on the boat. We’re going to ride around and wave to everybody at every other boat and we’re going to play the music load. It’s all about the experience just getting them out there doing something different and letting them experience the water. Just have a great afternoon.” – Ronnie Daniels Fishing with Buddies Volunteer
