Fishbone Alley Nearing Completion
Gulfport’s Fishbone Alley is nearing completion and is almost ready for foot traffic.
The alley located in downtown Gulfport between 26th Avenue and 27th Avenue is being revitalized to turn what once was an eyesore into a destination.
City leaders tell News 25 currently equipment to help with drainage is being installed. After that, construction crews will pave the alley with bricks used from when the city was originally built back in 1906. There’s still a lot to do but city leaders have an expected completion date. City of Gulfport Economic Development Director David Parker said, “We’ve got an update. It’s going to be the end of May when they’re finished. The historic pavers are being cleaned right now and they’ll be put in place. The overhead lights will be hung. The drainage is being installed. There’s a lot of moving parts right now.”
City leaders tell News 25 the recent passage of House Bill 1223 which allows open containers in certain districts has provided even more excitement for Fishbone Alley.
