Fish Fry Held to Benefit Hospitalized Ocean Springs Worker

Ocean Springs volunteers put on a fish fry Wednesday to raise money for a city employee injured last month.

Bruce Richard was hit by a car while mowing along Highway 90 in Ocean Springs. Richard was taken to the Ocean Springs Hospital, where he was in critical condition. This week, Richard was moved to a New Orleans Hospital, and his colleagues wanted to do something to ease the burden for his family.

Andre Kaufman, coordinator of the fish fry, says, “The Poorman’s Yacht Club, which is known up and down the Coast as a men’s organization, they fry the fish for us and they’re here today, and this is a fundraiser to support his family and their travels back and forth to their son in the hospital. Now that he’s in New Orleans, it’s going to be even more expensive, so that’s what we’re trying to do as friends and co-workers.”

Kaufman hopes to raise around $5,000 for the family. If you’d like to donate, go to any Hancock Bank branch and ask for the Bruce Richard account.
