Fish Fry Fundraiser benefits ‘Healing for Hendrix’ in Biloxi

A fish fry was held at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center to help raise money for Hendrix Branning, the son of Justin and Amanda Branning, both officers serving with Biloxi and Long Beach PD.

Last week, Hendrix was taken to the ER when he felt dizzy and lost normal function of his right arm and leg.

After extensive testing, the doctors believe he’ll likely be diagnosed with some sort of glioma, a malignant tumor affecting the nervous system.

At the fish fry, community members were able to get fish and shrimp plates for $10, along with a drink, fries, salad, and a roll.

In addition to the fish fry, businesses in Long Beach will be donating a percentage of all sales tomorrow to the Branning family in a city-wide fundraiser. Biloxi Police Chief John Miller said, “The Branning family are wonderful folks. They have several kids. They are a good family. This is a tragedy that this has happened this way. Certainly, we are all praying, thinking positive, that positive things are going to happen, but we want to make sure that they don’t have to worry about money. We want to make sure that we can raise as much money for them so that is one thing they can take off their plate and they can concentrate on getting their child well.”

Hendrix is facing multiple procedures, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.
