First West Nile Virus death in Mississippi

Today, the Mississippi Department of Health reports the first West Nile Virus death in a Mississippi resident this year.
The person was from Grenada County. Additionally, the health department is reporting nine new human cases in the last week including the reported death, bringing the state total to 19 for 2017.
The newly reported cases are in Forrest, Grenada, Hinds, Jones, Lincoln, Madison, Rankin and Scott counties.
