First responders honored in Gulfport

Gulfport firefighters, police officers, and EMR were all treated to a luncheon this afternoon.

Bel-Aire Baptist Church in Gulfport invited all first responders to have a free lunch. Those who showed up were greeted with patriotic decorations and plenty of ‘thank yous.’

Event planners tell News 25 they love what our first responders do for the community and it’s the least they could do for those who sacrifice their safety to protect Gulfport. Bel-Aire Baptist Church Member Shirley Todd said, “We really support them. I mean, we know that they’re there. If we call them they come right then to help us. They run to danger. We just want to do something to honor them and let them know we support them. So, we really appreciate them and were tickled to death we had so many come out.”

This is the second time the church has honored those who protect us with a free meal.
