First MSU K-9 retires after 9 years
The MSU Police Department is celebrating the first-ever retirement of a dog from its K-9 unit.
Bach, a 10-year-old Malinois, has retired after 9 years of service as a dual-purpose explosion and patrol detector today.
He performed pre-event sweeps at the university, answered threatening calls that were reported, and even patrolled the campus.
MSU Assistant Police Chief Brian Locke said Bach swept an estimated 400 campus events and responded to over 40 bomb threats over his career.
As part of Bach’s retirement, he received a certificate and an official change of ownership to his handler, Wesley Bunch.
