First Ingalls Shipbuilding Hiring Center opens at the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi
For the first time, an Ingalls Shipbuilding hiring center opened on the Coast.
With over 3,000 positions available for trade workers with no experience, Ingalls Shipbuilding now has a new hiring location that is more convenient for Harrison County residents.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., their first hiring center opened in Edgewater Mall.
The largest manufacturing employer in the state of Mississippi, Ingalls Shipbuilding is making employment processes easier for those looking for work. Ingalls Vice President of Human Resources and Administration Edmond Hughes said, “Key to individuals is having a desire to learn and be willing to work. We can work with the rest of that.”
Hughes tells News 25 the decision to open a hiring center was to come to the people. “Ingalls is located in Jackson County. We wanted to take advantage of the mall location, the central location, and the Harrison County area.”
Typical hiring events for Ingalls are done through pop-up hiring events so a permanent store front is a new idea. “We just ask you to come to the space and we will talk to you about the opportunities. We’ll talk to you about the pay. We’ll talk to you about the benefits. We’d love to have some idea about your experience level and what your interests are.”
The process is simple. Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Director Rachael Kiesling said, “People can come in, use the kiosk, apply and then they’re going to hear back from Ingalls.”
No experience, no problem! There are still openings for you. “In 2022, we will be hiring over 3,000 individuals. Pay and benefits are extremely competitive.”
Friday, January 7th, the hiring center is hosting a hiring event from noon to 5 p.m. You can find the storefront near Zales Jewelry at Edgewater Mall.
