First Friday Block Party in Downtown Biloxi

After having to cancel in July due to inclement weather, Biloxi Main Street’s First Friday was back tonight in Downtown Biloxi.

Along with the usual food, games, and live music, this month the event also featured a COVID-19 vaccination station.

Memorial Hospital administered free first doses of the Pfizer vaccine at the block party. All those who received a vaccine at the event were given a free beer from Fly Llama Brewing or a seltzer.

Biloxi Main Street Executive Director Kay Miller says their association is encouraging everyone to get vaccinated. “Hopefully we can nip the COVID in the bud if everybody’s vaccinated. So that’s why we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated. We want to continue to have events like this. We don’t want to have to stop them. Some events are stopping now. We don’t want to have to do that again. So, everybody enjoys getting outside, enjoying the great band and some beautiful scenery. And enjoy it with their friends which we want them to do, so that’s why it’s important.”

Memorial Hospital will be offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine again Saturday morning at Gulfport High School.
