First Baptist Church of Lyman hosts “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” pre-release showing

A beloved Christmas children’s book is a soon-to-be released movie.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” directed by Dallas Jenkins, will hit theaters on November 8th, but First Baptist Church of Lyman had the unique opportunity to share the film with dozens of attendees during a pre-release leadership screening.

“This movie is probably going to be one of the movies that will be shown for years and years in the family like some of the other movies,” movie team member Hilton Glass said. “It’s a message about Christmas and a story told in a way that is very, very unique and entertaining.”

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child is an official partner of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and was in attendance with hundreds of boxes for viewers to take home and fill with love. As Operation Christmas Child Area Coordinator Doug Bradford explained, these boxes will go on to help kids in need across the globe.

“Our strategy is one, one, one,” Bradford said. “One box, one child, one lifetime. For many, many of these children, this will be the only gift they ever get.”

Women of Wisdom also attended the event, highlighting the group’s care closet and one upcoming event. This was all done in the hopes of following the movie’s theme of helping those around them.

“On the third Tuesday of the month, that is an open forum, anybody can come,” Jill Compton said. “It’s not your garage sale clothes, it’s not any yucky clothes, it’s literally the best of the best for the working class ladies.”

Christmas is still two months away, but the movie screening showed that it’s never too early to start making those holiday memories and give back to those in need.
