Firemen Arrests Leads to Drug Bust
What started off as a search for a stolen golf cart resulted in three arrests and the seizure of more than 60 marijuana plants. News 25’s Kendra Turley has the story.
The Pass Christian Police Department received a report of a stolen golf cart on September 30th. From there, investigators took several leads which led to the arrest of two firemen. As authorities continued the search for the stolen golf cart, they located marijuana, weapons, and more.
A stolen golf cart from Timber Ridge subdivision in Pass Christian results in two local firemen being arrested. Pass Christian Police Chief Tim Hendricks said, “It’s shocking to find out. You would hope that nobody in a public position like that would commit a crime.”
Jason Hair of the Pass Christian Fire Department and John Adam Noble of the D’iberville Fire Department were charged with grand larceny and receiving stolen property. The investigation did not stop there. Information gathered from multiple search warrants for the stolen golf cart led authorities to a house belonging to 43-year-old William Watts. Police found a white trailer in the backyard of William Watt’s home on Hayes Road. Inside of the trailer were 60 growing plants of marijuana.
Pass Christian Police Department, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Coastal Narcotics Enforcement Team found a number of other stolen items in addition to the marijuana operating system. Ryan Hearn with the Coastal Narcotics Enforcement Team said, “Also located on the property was a stolen tractor, a stolen ATV. A large amount of bulk U.S. currency was found inside the attic area of the residence, as well as over 20 weapons.”
Watts was charged with manufacture of a controlled substance and released from Harrison County Jail on a $20,000 bond. “We don’t know if other pending charges are going to be at this time, the investigation is still ongoing. So, that’s where we’re at right now,” said Hearn.
The stolen golf cart was recovered and Hair and Noble were released from the Harrison County Jail on $10,000 bonds.
