Firefly at the Mary C. happening Thursday, July 14th

The Firefly is a monthly evening event at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center where the community gathers to experience interactive art, technology, entertainment, and food.

From 6 to 7 p.m., guests can take a tour of the Mary C. and learn about all the different events, programs, and everything they have to offer.

From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Mary C. will have their traditional Firefly, complete with live music by Nic Nall, art activities with Danea Israel-Brown, and cool refreshments by Pop Brothers.

Guests can also enjoy tasty food by Chef Clay Barney, who will be serving up smothered pork chop over rice with collard greens and specialty egg roll for $12. Arts and Culture Coordinator Sarah Qarqish said, “One of our goals at the Mary C. and with the city is to bring the community into the building and for them to utilize it and enjoy it. This is our one-year re-opening. So, we want to celebrate that and show everybody, give them a taste of what all we have accomplished here and what we have going on and also what we are developing for the future.”

Guests are also encouraged to take a look at the displays of ‘Mother’s Nature’ and ‘A Creative Life Story’ which will be leaving the gallery soon.
