Fire investigation leads to murder arrest in Picayune

A Picayune man is charged with murder after two bodies were discovered in a burned building last week.

Maurice Perkins is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. His arrest stems from an investigation into a building fire that happened last Friday on Runway Drive near the Picayune Municipal Airport.

That’s when the bodies of those two people were found in the burned-out building and an autopsy revealed that the two individuals were victims of homicide.

Picayune police say this is still an ongoing investigation.
