Fire Burns Home Under Construction Long Beach
Flames destroyed a home under construction in long beach this morning along Highway 90 and Lewis Avenue.
Firefighters from both Gulfport and Long Beach battled the fire which sparked around 5:30 am.
Police blocked east and west bound lanes of Highway 90 for about an hour while water poured on the structure.
No one was injured or living in the home at the time.
According to employees with C.J. Services the home was under construction for about a month with no real electric or gas work in it yet.
When they arrived on scene to burned rubble many were shocked, confused, and angry.
“It was simple construction we were just now putting out the duct work into it and we were coming today to set equipment and by the looks of it, we won’t be able to do that…so this is definitely a complete mystery on how this got set on fire.”
– Daniel Hilsinger Construction Worker, C.J. Services Inc
The cause of the house fire is currently under investigation.
