Final day of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo
July 4th marks the final day of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.
The rain held out for the four day event, making the conditions perfect for fishermen. Many people even took on the heat to see the record breaking fish that were coming in.
President of the fishing rodeo Richard Valdez said that the event did great this year and that people flocked to the vendors selling cold items in order to beat the heat. “With it being the Fourth and you know the way it falls, it’s been a little slow coming in the gates at first this morning. With the big shark being back there more and more of those people are starting to roll in and hopefully by the end of the day we will have another big shark up there on the board. There is a lot of talk about someone bringing something in at the last minute.”
A 149 pound stingray broke the record, but Valdez says that they are still waiting to see if someone will break the state record for the tuna.
