Final countdown for school supplies drive for Cool Kidz Club
With each passing day, more school districts are continuing to open and the need for basic school supplies is at an all-time high due to the financial difficulties caused by COVID.
One local non-profit has stepped up to help fill the need. Backpacks and other basic school supplies have been collected by the Cool Kidz Club, a non-profit that is equipping our South Mississippi students with what they need to be successful this school year.
The drive has been underway for two weeks now, with a number of local businesses donating, but there’s still a need for donations and tonight at 11:59 is the deadline. Cool Kidz Club Founder and CEO Dr. Kellye Bolar said, “I received several messages from parents saying they’ve been out of work since March. They have not been able to provide just some of the basic necessities that their kids need for school. We knew that was needed. That’s why we knew this school supply was so important to kids. Some schools have already started. We know just being able to have the basic papers, pencils, markers, that’s so important for them to have in the coming weeks.”
