Filmmakers Call HB1523 a Bust

A local filmmaker is addressing the division HB 1523 is causing within the state.
“Meanwhile in Mississippi” is a screenplay written by Tammy Devin, a Long Beach native wanting to make a statement to the world that not everyone in Mississippi is hateful like she says some people seem to perceive, especially within the film industry as more industries begin to pull out of the state.
Tonight, Devin gathered support for her screen play in hopes of raising $20,000 to make the play a world recognized film in the near future. “I wanted the world to know what happened. I wanted them to see what happened here when that happened and I wanted them to see what could possibly happen if we allow the government to just stand in and say ‘I’m passing this bill today, I’m passing that law tomorrow and we’re going to govern morality based on what we think.’”
