Film Studies Pathway Program
USM Gulf Park and MGCCC are teaming up for a new film studies pathway program.
The duo wanted to make an easier transition for students both scheduling wise and academically. With this program, students at MGCCC can take classes working towards the bachelor’s degree at USM in film studies.
One of the organizers of the pathway program tells News 25 this is not only an educational advantage but also a chance for students to network between the two schools. USM Interim Associate Provost Casey Maugh Funderburk said, “From here we have Southern Miss Film Studies Brigade. The film studies brigade is a group of students who gather, watch films, they let each other know about internships and opportunities so we’re going to partner them with the students at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to make sure we have that student to student interaction as well.”
Students have the option to enroll in this program in the fall of 2016.
